A ‘Show’ for showing something new!
Blue Horizon chose Sound & Vision – The Bristol Show to launch Proburn, the first of many exciting products. Sound & Vision Bristol is the UK’s largest hi-fi and home cinema show; this year’s event, held between 20th and 22nd February, featured 165 exhibiting brands and was attended by 10,000 audiophiles from around the United Kingdom and beyond.
Keith Martin, Managing Director of Blue Horizon Ideas Ltd, introduces the new Proburn cable burn-in accelerator and Clean-IT contact conditioner at the Bristol Show. Inset: Proburn and Clean-IT in a display case at the show.
Proburn is a high-quality, dedicated cable burn-in machine that dramatically reduces the burn-in time required by new cables to sound at their best, and also optimises the performance of existing cables to a level that music simply can’t match.
Cable burn-in: an acknowledged problem in need of a better solution:
The problem is straightforward. Real music has relatively little high-frequency energy, and thus has a limited ability to improve a cable. Research shows that musical instruments may produce energy above 20kHz, but there is little sound energy above 40kHz. Also, most microphones do not pick up sound at frequencies much higher than 20kHz.
Furthermore, even the best burn-in CDs have a limited effect, owing to the restricted frequency range of a CD player. A typical CD player has a sampling rate of 44.1kHz (Red Book standard). Digital theory (Nyquist) suggests a maximum frequency of 22.05kHz; the highest frequency is always half the sampling frequency.
